The jewel in the crown – Structure Twenty-Seven in all its (3d) glory

A major goal this summer was to expose the northern end of Structure Twenty-Seven to see whether it had survived the episodes of prehistoric stone robbing.

Although not as well-preserved as we had hoped, enough survived to confirm the presence of the building’s single, narrow entrance and that the masonry was as impressive as that seen in the north-western wall.

The position and layout of Trench T, however, meant that it was impossible for site visitors to get a good look at the newly exposed archaeology. But fear not. Now you can get right into the trench and explore to your heart’s content with Paul Durdin’s latest 3d model of this remarkable Neolithic structure.
