Description
Renga – ‘linked verse’ – is a collaborative poetic form which originated in Japan almost a thousand years ago and later gave rise to the popular haiku form.
This renga was composed at the Ness of Brodgar by an Orkney tour guide, a Historic Environment Scotland ranger, volunteer diggers, an archaeologist, an artist and a poet. They gathered on a grey and windy Sunday afternoon in the site Art Hut and the work grew, linked by the images and memories of the summer’s work in 2018.
The images are details from a painting, Sondage, created on the site by Jeanne Bouza Rose during the 2018 excavation season.
Proceeds from all sales of this electronic version(PDF) of the book go directly to Ness of Brodgar excavation funds.
