Ness of Brodgar nominated in British Archaeological Awards
It has been a good week for Orkney’s archaeology. On the same day that the Links of Notland was awarded the “Best Rescue Dig” award at the 2014 Current Archaeology Awards, it was confirmed that the ongoing excavations at the Ness of Brodgar have been nominated in the “Best Archaeology Category” of the British Archaeological Awards.
The project was nominated by Archaeology Scotland — a national charity that aims to get people involved with archaeology through learning and promotion.
The winners will be announced at an event in the British Museum on July 14 — coincidentally the day the 2014 season of excavations begin on site — as part of the Council for British Archaeology’s annual Festival of Archaeology.
