Locating the site of the Odin Stone

The Stones of Stenness and the Barnhouse settlement was the destination for a group of young folk from the Connect project last week.
Accompanied by our education officer, Katy Firth, among the activities at the standing stones was to try and visualise the former location of the Odin Stone – the holed megalith destroyed in 1814.
Then it was on to the nearby Barnhouse settlement to compare two of the Neolithic buildings there (House Two and Structure Eight) with Structures Fourteen and Ten at the Ness of Brodgar complex.
They’ll be back in Stenness later this week, visiting Ness HQ to view some of the finds recovered over 20 years of excavation.
