Dig director bound for China
Ness of Brodgar site director Nick Card is bound for China next week, to take part in a workshop on heritage management.
Nick will travel to Xi’an for the event as an invited guest of the Royal Society of Edinburgh and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
Hailed the birthplace of Chinese civilisation, Xi’an is the capital of Shaanxi Province and marks the eastern end of the Silk Road.
It is perhaps best known for the discovery of the Terracotta Army — thousands of life-size, hand-molded figures buried with China’s first emperor, Qin Shi Huang.
