Damp and blustery on site but we’re open as scheduled

As forecast, the day dawned damp and blustery – but we are opening the site to visitors as scheduled and the tours will also run.

However, Orkney’s weather is notoriously unpredictable so this may have to change at short notice. If so, we’ll post details on the website as soon as possible.

If  you are planning a visit to the Ness today, waterproof clothing and footwear is highly recommended.

Please remember that it’s a working excavation so conditions underfoot are uneven and will be slippy today.

Because of the weather, work in the trenches has been halted but we’re hoping (ever the optimists) that we’ll be able to continue this afternoon.
